Lu’s Kitutes

Manaus

Lucineia left Maranhão at the age of 12 and went to live with an aunt who already lived in Manaus. Always attentive and looking for opportunities, Lu started working at a young age: even at the age of 8, she helped in the family business. With an independent spirit, at the age of 14, she decided to pursue her own path. She initially worked as a companion lady until she saw an opportunity to start her own business in the food industry. Today, her stall, which she set up at her doorstep, is always full of customers. She makes classic pastries with wheat flour dough and fillings of cheese and ham, but what is most successful are her innovative recipes. Her pastries made with macaxeira dough, for example, are recreations of classic dishes from the Northern cuisine. The most popular choices are the baked pastries with tacacá, tucumã with fried banana and queijo coalho (inspired by the famous X-Caboquinho, a typical sandwich from Manaus), and pirarucu de casaca, which includes banana, raisins, potato sticks, olives, and flakes of the typical fish from the Amazon.
