Kauã's Crepe

Natal

Crepe is abundant in Ponta Negra, the most touristic beach in Natal. There are carts everywhere on the sand. But only one of them serves the traditional French delicacy with a fried cheese border, forming a sort of fan on the crepe batter. Besides being delicious, Kauã’s crepe is different: the border can come with the customer’s name written on it, or even their favorite soccer team. Kauã used to be a soccer player, having played in the under-20 team of América de Natal, an important club in the city, and he loves to talk about it. If the conversation is good, the customer leaves with a crepe that reads “Corinthians,” “Santa Cruz,” and so on. The native of Paraíba is also creative with fillings, offering unusual flavors such as Portuguese pizza and sertanejo – the latter includes carne de sol (sun-dried beef), queijo coalho (a type of cheese), catupiry (a Brazilian cheese), tomato, onion, and oregano. “You have to make it from the heart to make it well,” he says.
